Words of Wisdom from The Ones That Matter

Here's my annual entry for students to share their ideas about good teaching. They are posted exactly as written by them, and no coersion or "leading the witness" was allowed.
Enjoy the humor, insight and the stinging. -Clint

Include students in your activities like English does. It helps me learn better and more stuff.

I learned that fear is respect. If someone is absolutly terrified of you, that's good. So crack the whip the very first day and then "be lax" throughout the year. Then you're golden, baby...

Megan G-
We have other activities besides school. I know that if we didn't have homework we wouldn't be able to do the fun activities during class but don't overload us. We also have other classes...

Try to be the most fun and interesting teacher on your team. Stuents will respect you and will do their best.

There, you have it.
Have a great summer, everyone!!

Why Students Should Read Shakespeare

"The very reasons teachers enjoy teaching William Shakespeare's plays and poems are the very reasons students should be reading them, according to Standards 1, 2, and 3 of the NCTE/IRA Standards for the English Language Arts. Besides, after 400 years the bard still speaks to us, even on Twitter.com!"
